Wake up chapter 5

Wake Up He’s Gone
1890-1940's
Mellie woke up from a dreamless sleep jolted upright like someone had fired a gun in the night.  Her heart was knocking like a captive trying to escape its confines.  She lay silent and assessed the large one room cabin her family lived in.  Her sister  lay soundly next to her on the lumpy mattress they shared and she could hear her father snoring gently upstairs in the loft.   Nothing obvious had crept into the night to terrorize the world but Mellie was overcome with an ache.  Her soul, her love part of her heart was being squeezed and ravaged.  She felt so alone!  The feeling so intense it curled her body into a ball.  What was it, a family member sick, dead?  No it was him he had been stolen from her before they could even meet.  Only the heavens saw the vein that had connected the two severed with a blunt object leaving her end to spasm pain into the abyss.  She couldn’t stop the tears from pooling down her face onto her pillow.  She felt a little crazy, a little silly to hold thoughts that her true love had just died but she knew without a doubt she was alone without him in this life.  She wished the shining stars in the black sky would just be extinguished rather than watch her misery as she gasped and trembled for her loss.
