Folk Tale chapter 1

(To any I guess, I would call it purist's of Irish folk lore don't get in a tiff, it's a story)

Folk Tale
A long long time ago the Gods created a mystical people to watch, adore and entertain them. They were the sons and daughters of the Goddess Danu and the Gods named them the Tuatha De Danaan.  They were given a place to dwell beyond any place on a map, the paradise of Tir-na-nog.  It was a land free of sickness and full of youth and beauty.  A place of forever happiness, and pleasure, no one wanted for anything.
Only the Gods can tell you why but there was an exodus from this magical place that left only a few behind .  On Beltaine day these tall and fair people appeared through clouds and mists to the land that is now Ireland.  Among those was a pulchritudinous woman named Etain.  She was pregnant with the God Lir’s child. So enchanting was Etain that Lir had become spellbound by her.  He snuck away from the heavens and tricked her to make love to him.  Aoife, Lir’s wife had ears and eyes everywhere and found out of her husbands deceit.  She was a powerfully jealous woman and promised to curse the earth bound woman as long as she lived.  Thankfully Etain was not only beautiful but smart. She protected herself with charms gifted from doting Gods and used her sharp wit. It saved her from many attempts Aoife took on her and the unborn child.  She hoped by leaving her homeland and coming to this new place it would confuse Aoife and give her some reprieve from the invidious Goddess.
The Tuatha De Danaan prospered in the wet green land and Etain gave birth to a girl.  She named her Vawse for the enchanting child held all of Etain’s dreams and ambitions that she hoped would blossom. Vawse was raised free of the threats from Aoife by the druids who held power over the green island, and she grew into a rare and fair creature. Her beauty rivaled the Gods but she was also a loving and tender girl and grew into a kind women.  When the time came she was wed to Prince Hammil Kenzie It was a love match but the Kenzie line was next for the high thrown so it was a good match.
Many years passed since the Danaan’s had descended on the land and overcame the Firbolgs.  Then more years since the Fomorians had tried to invade and were defeated.  Then the fierce Picts came, battled and won.  The tattooed tribe was convinced to take other land but it was the Milesians that changed everything.   Two fierce battles between the invaders and the God’s pets created heroes and tragedies.  In the end the Milesians won and left the people of Danu at a milestone.
The entire people met at Brugh on the Boyne to decide there fate and they chose not to be ruled by these strange brutal people.  Many chose to the enchanted land underground and they began to build massive fortresses.  Only then did the Tutha de Danna come to be called fairy or fae.  The mounds or sidhe’s were given magick.  Time moved slowly and the fortresses became a little piece of the enchanted land they had left.  Vawse became pregnant with her first child and wished to be in a land where they could be free above and below ground.  Fresh rumors had spread of an entire continent with only a small populace and it fanned curiosity and hope. When Hammil and Vawse lay in bed at night they fantasized of this unchartered mystery land.
ManannĂ¡n mac Lir, the son of Lir and guardian of the Otherworld’s came to visit his favorite sister and niece to celebrate Summer Solstice.  Etain told him of Vawses desire to start fresh.  So that day ManannĂ¡n bestowed to his favorite people many choices and gifts.  He offered his ale and swine to those who wanted to have immortality.  He created a cloak around all the existing mounds to shield and protect them from those that walked above ground, lastly he offered Wave Sweeper to his niece. Manannan’s charmed ship did not need sails and it would carry them to the new continent swiftly and wisely. Without hesitation Hammil announced that he would lead whoever wished to leave and many packed and set out.
The North America’s was a rich land empty of hostiles.  It had just one primitive people that worshiped the tall and beautiful folk rather than battle with them. Even though it was safe to be above ground the fea felt better under it and three main fortresses were built.  The first was on a lovely island were their ship had chosen to land first. It was green and lush and they built inside the high rock walls that overlooked the sea.  This mound was named East Seaboard and it was left with the Casco family line.  Hammil and a very pregnant Vawse searched for warmer weather and wave sweeper quickly followed the coastline and passed sandy white beaches and entered into crystal blue water.  The wave sweeper continued and the scenery changed as they started to move in shore.  Reeds grew dense and giant cypress trees dominated. They started into swamps and wetlands where birds of every size abounded. Some had giant wing spans, others giant shovel beaks that could scoop up several fish at a time.  Moss and vines dangled or draped on every available surface.  Turtles lumbered slowly on the banks and frogs added their voice to the symphony of sounds.  The land was full of mystery, danger and beauty.  Wave Sweeper stopped on a dry bank in front of a gigantic tree. It’s trunk was massive spreading out like fingers into the swamp it’s reach as wide as an acre.  The mounds home  would be inside this tree and beaneath. Magick could make a dry underground paradise. They named it the Acadiana mound .  Etain stayed with Vawse until she had her child.  She was an ethereal delicate gift they named Marron.
Now that they had left the protection of the druids the family worried that Aoife would hold true to her word and somehow destroy this growing family descended from the God.  The mother and now grandmother enchanted the land with as many protections that they could before Etain left for a dryer climate.
The third mound established by the original immigrants was settled on the bright and sunny west coastline and Etain named it the Golden Grain.  She ruled her beaches and fertile grounds by herself, never letting go of her love for Lir.  Manannan came to visit often and provided transport for the family to see each other, but he came under disguise for Aoife was watching him like a hawk still furious that a mere pet could be favored over her!
The years went by and others joined them on the Continent and the mounds became ripe with joy and peace.  Vawse flourished in her enchanting swamps with her now high King Hammill by her side. Soon enough, Auden with hair the color of chocolate was born and only a short time after that Sensa with the golden eyes followed.   All was how it should be…..
